Worth a trip over the Pennines to the hugely popular Lytham Festival. It used to be called the Lytham Proms and took place over 3 days, now the event has been renamed the Lytham Festival and runs over a week.

Lemar starts the week off on Monday 1 August; he released an album of soul classics last year mixed in with original tracks.

British country duo The Shores appear on Tuesday 2 August whilst on Wednesday 3 August there will be the largest ever beachfront screening of Star Wars - The Force Awakens.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds appear on Thursday 4 August with former X Factor winner Matt Cardle appearing on the same evening.

Friday 5 August is the 80's/90's Mix Tape event which is headlined by The Village People. Also appearing are the Bay City Rollers, Sister Sledge, 5 Star, Liberty X, 911 and Toploader.

Bryan Adams appears on Saturday 6 August. He released a superb album late last year co-produced by ELO's Jeff Lynne. Always an accomplished live act, it is a major coup for the Lytham Festival.

The Sunday night is traditionally reserved for the classical aspect of the event. This year it is billed as the West End Proms. The 60 piece Symphony Orchestra has Collabro and Claire Sweeney appearing alongside them.

Sheffield synth pioneers Heaven 17 appear on a different stage on the same night if classical music is not your cup of tea.
