Review: McBusted - Leeds Arena

After last years successful arena tour it looks like the partnership between the 2 members of Busted and McFly is here for a little longer.

The stage set for tonight's gig looks like it could be for a heavy rock act such as Metallica when you see the pit at the front of the stage where the fans can stand, enclosed with a stage at either side of them.

The stage too resembles a giant arcade game with each band member arriving on stage via an opening trap door as they spring up onto the stage.

The band open up the gig with Air Guitar and with fireworks going off and the stage lights on at full strength it feels more like the end of the gig rather than the start as they put a lot into the opening song.

The hits follow such as Hate Your Guts and One for the Radio. "Leeds, are you ready for the best night of your life?" asks guitarist Danny Jones as the band launch into Thunderbirds Are Go.

McFly have some great songs and you realise how under rayed they are amongst the wider musical audience.

A lot of thought always goes into their gigs: tonight the huge screen behind them turns into the KissCam as the cameras pan the audience for couples kissing as the act perform Its All about You.

For their hit Crash the Wedding all band members return to the stage wearing either wedding dresses or top hats and tails!

Really, though McFly do not need the 2 members of Busted in the band as they are a class act on their own. Five Colours, their first hit reminds everyone of those Saturday mornings watching CD:UK before Shine a Light and Year 3000 concludes a brilliant night's entertainment.
