Review of Hallam FM Summer Live - Sheffield Arena

Ella Henderson
Ella Henderson
The current crop of pop acts old and new were on display in Sheffield on Friday night.

The Vamps opened up the evening, they are developing into a tight pop outfit and they received one of the best responses of the night.

Ella Henderson might have been a finalist on the X Factor but her recent Number 1 single, Ghost sounded great tonight.

5 Seconds of Summer
5 Seconds of Summer

Australian pop-punk outfit 5 Seconds of Summer seem to be flavour of the moment and it is hard not to dislike the four piece act: their style owes as much to McFly and Green Day. Their debut single Don't Stop was the best track in their short set.

Foxes
Foxes

Louisa Rose Allen is better known by her stage name Foxes. Her performance tonight was very dramatic with her arms aloft and soaring vocals she should be around for a few more years yet. Glorious sounds like another big hit for her.

Kaiser Chiefs
Kaiser Chiefs

Yorkshire's own, The Kaiser Chiefs stood out like a sore thumb on the evenings bill of acts. Whilst most of the other performers tonight are relatively new and more of a mainstream nature, The Kaisers have been performing whilst most of tonight's acts were in primary school. Lead singer Ricky Wilson informs the crowd "I know this place very well; it's great to be back in Yorkshire!" Ruby, I Predict a Riot and Going Home were reason enough to attend tonight's concert, just to witness the Kaiser's short 20 minute slot. Brilliant.

Jess Glyne
Jess Glyne

Jess Glyne might be netter known as the lead vocalist on Clean Bandit's worldwide hit Rather Be but her own debut hit Right Here sounds like she could make a solo career yet.

Ella Eyre
Ella Eyre

Ella Eyre also known for lending her vocals to another dance act, in this case Rudimental, showed an infectious enthusiasm which crossed over to the audience. Waiting All Night opened up her set. A youthful and energetic performance.

Neon Jungle
Neon Jungle

Neon Jungle has been touted as the next big UK girl act but in reality it does not work somehow. Rather than performing as a group they come across as 4 individuals who do not interact. Their debut single from last year, Trouble sounded good though.

Katy B
Katy B

Katy B performed at Bingley Music Live last year and she did not disappoint tonight. Crying for No Reason showed a deeper side to her.

Little Mix
Little Mix

Closing the night was Little Mix. One of the most polished pop acts of the night. With their 4 male dancers the tracks such as Salute and Wings closed an entertaining evening.
