Album Review: Ne-Yo - Non-Fiction (Motown)

Ne-Yo has been one of the most successful R&B artists over the last few years. He has always tried to concentrate his career on America and Europe and this new album has tracks that are aimed at each market.

The more underground cuts are aimed firmly at the American market. With tracks like Run (featuring SchoolBoy Q and She Knows (featuring Juicy J) you know where he is trying to please.

The soulful track Integrity shows that he has lost none of his soul whilst Who's Taking You Home is one of the best tracks on the album, if you liked Ne-Yo before you will like this up-tempo track.

You might think that the idea of Mr Worldwide AKA at Pitbull doing a duet with Ne-Yo would be the final straw but in reality the track they sing together Time of our Lives is brilliant: this will be a big hit all over Europe this spring and summer. The track towards the end has an underpinning of Stardust and their hit The Music Sounds Better with You.

There are the ballads such as Story Time and Ballerina. It might be a mixed album but you could say he is trying to cover two man bases or he is just showing his versatility.

3 out of 5.
