Album Review: Lisa Stansfield - Live In Manchester

Last September Rochdale's Lisa Stansfield played an impressive gig at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. I reviewed the gig at the time and thought that she was very entertaining and am pleased that this gig was recorded as she does not tour much these days.

Earlier in 2013 she had returned with a quality new album, Seven and along with songs off the new album she performs all her hits. The album starts off with Can't Dance, a song off her last album before she goes back to her roots with her big hot Set Your Loving Free.

Her tracks were always influenced by soul and to a smaller effect Northern Soul. She has lost none of the soulful quality of her voice.

The Barry White hit Never, Never Gonna Give You Up which she also had a hit with is there along with her other big hits such as People Hold On, Live Together, Time To Make You Mine and The Real Thing.

Of course she saves her biggest hit until last with All Around The World, closing the gig. There is also a DVD of the concert too.

A timely reminder that Lisa remains one of the U.K.'s best soul singers.
