Album Review: Billy Ocean - Here You Are

The first CD of this two set collection features tracks personally selected by Billy Ocean that have had an influence on him both musically and in his personal life. So most of the tracks are at least from the 1950's or 1960's.

His soulful voice suits tracks such as Cry Me A River, whilst he performs a sterling version of Bob Marley's No Woman, No Cry. The album is downbeat until we get to his version of Having A Party.

The second CD is more upbeat and contains all his big hits: you forget how many he has had. When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going, Suddenly, Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car, Caribbean Queen (No More Love On The Run) are all here. The latter is beginning to sound a little dated now with its 1980's production.

His introductory hits from the mid 70's are here too with Love Really Hurts Without You and Red Light Spells Danger sounding good, I'm surprised that no one else has not covered these classic songs by now.

A great retrospective of his career so far.

4 out of 5.
